The build up to Christmas is always one of anticipation as we close off one year and we look forward with hope to a new one. As we look back on the year which was 2016 it certainly was one of the more dramatic years.
On one hand 2016 has been a truly great year! With your support we have grown, grown, grown! We now offer more than we did at the start of the year and have picked up some incredible students and teachers along the way! The Vocal Academy now offers:
- Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele as well as singing tuition
- New Teachers, Diarmuid Coffey and David McDonald
- A Second Studio
- RIAM Preparation for Singing and Piano
We are very proud to have our first batch of singers preparing for the RIAM Singing and Piano Grades in Spring of 2017.
We ran our Adult Singing Group early in the year which was tremendous fun and we promise to bring it back again in 2017!
Ross Breen and Bobby at the Leap Sessions Mini Fest in August this year
We also initiated and curate The Leap Sessions with singer/sonwriter Ross Breen which runs every other Tuesday at the Salmon Leap Inn and many of our students used this platform to perform their own original music with distinction, in amongst some exceptionally brilliant and experienced Independent Musical Talent. Including Bell X1 we also welcomed International Acts from countries such as Spain, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Canada, United States, Peru and Venezuela as well as acts from the far reaches of Ireland, Dongal to Wexford and all in between.
On the other hand it was a terribly sad year with the loss of so many brilliant musicians and influencers, Bowie, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Glenn Frey (Eagles), George Martin (Beatles), Merle Haggard, Billy Paul and many others like Alan Rickman and Gene Wilder all leaving us this year.
Most importantly though, we want to thank YOU for the support you have given us this past year and indeed since we started this little thing up! Without you, there would be no Vocal Academy and for that we are eternally grateful.
Thanks
Bobby
