Happy New Year! Well if you are a Student or a parent with young singers you know what I mean!!
With the advent of the new year we have some absolutely BRILLIANT news for you!
We are now offering RIAM (Royal Irish Academy of Music) Certification Preparation. Following a meeting with Dr. Jennifer O’Connor from the RIAM we are now in a position to offer ALL students the facility to clock up Grades from September on.
“This is a hugely positive nod to the background work we put in at the studio and underlines our philosophy of putting our students first! It shows that even though relatively new as an organisation, the Institute for Vocal Advancement is a highly respected organisation and that the IVA Teachers dedication to good, healthy technique is recognised by other authorities as something that is desirable.
The importance of RIAM Grades to our students first of all gives a special focus to those singers who are not gearing up to anything specific. It also helps to narrow the focus on your tendencies and provides a specific goal to work towards.
We would like to stress that it is by no means obligatory that our singers undertake to commit to RIAM Certification however it is available for those that wish to partake.”
To this end we are also taking on another teacher:
DIARMUID COFFEY
Diarmuid has been both studying and teaching singing, piano and acting for many years. He is a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting’s full time actor training programme. He holds a Diploma in Piano Performance from London College of Music (DipLCM) and studied music at NUI Maynooth.
Diarmuid has been studying the IVA method of singing for over 3 years. After studying the method and seeing first hand the results that it can produce Diarmuid was motivated to train as an IVA teacher himself and is soon to be certified as a Level 1 instructor. Diarmuid is passionate about sharing this method of singer training with his students. Diarmuid is a fan of all genres of music but is particularly fond of folk, singer-song writers and musical theatre.
