From September to June traditionally our kids and teenagers take their weekly music lessons and it can sometimes feel a bit solitary. For teens especially, the idea of a Summer Camp simply is not an option.
Back in yesteryear when I was a teen I remember there being about 15 Bands in our school. I’m not even sure if there is one in that school, maybe two.
To address this, to bring them on to through next steps we launch our Summer Jam Series for teens.
We will meet on Wednesday mornings for 90 minutes at 11:30am and introduce our singers with our guitarists, with our pianists, with our ukes. You do not even have to be a student at the VMA. So if you learn elsewhere or even an instrument that we do not currently teach you are most welcome. Whether they pair off or whether they get together in full on rock band mode they will learn the discipline of rehearsing and practicing with others to meet an end. They will utilise the skills of compromise, diplomacy & tolerance as well as musicianship and responsibility – the importance have having your practice done!
We have three studios and a performance space, sound equipment and two very experienced performing teachers (Bobby Harpur & David McDonald) to facilitate and guide, we may also be periodically joined by former students who have studied at BIMM or are actively gigging.
We want The Vocal & Music Academy to be a space where our young musicians can meet and create great sounds!
We’ll meet over 6 weeks in July and August starting 12th July.
